Key Finders™ FAQs
Key Finders™ is a new service designed to quickly and safely reunite keys to their rightful owners. This service also provides for return of cell phones and hand-held computer devices. Anyone who has ever lost their car keys will tell you it is time consuming, costly and brings nothing but frustration. First you attempt to retrace your steps to find the lost keys. If you don't find them, you either have to wait for someone to bring you an alternate set or you may have to have your car towed. (Remember a locksmith can't make you a key to start your car in most cases, only the dealer can do this because of the new computer style key systems.) Now you are at the dealership waiting to have new keys made after that you go through the process of replacing the other keys that were with the lost car keys, (keys for your home and/or office). Key Finders™ has designed a method of identifying your keys with a keytag registered specifically to your set of keys. This keytag hangs on the keyring with your car keys and displays an 800 number and offers a REWARD to the finder for the prompt return of your keys. When the finder contacts the KFI Rep, arrangements are made to secure the keys for a quick and safe pick-up and a $50 REWARD is sent to the finder. Everyone is a winner! The owner does not have to deal with the hassles of lost keys, searching for them, standing in a dark parking lot or other unsafe areas far from home while waiting for a tow truck or a family member to bring an extra key. At this point most people would gladly pay $300.00 to have their keys and just drive away.
[ top ]To celebrate the grand opening of Key Finders™, the company is running a special enrollment fee of only $175 until February 28, 2007. On March 1, 2007, the regular enrollment rate of $300 will become effective. The enrollment fee covers lost key services for five years. Renewal cost is $20 per year after the initial enrollment period. Additional costs are the $50 reward fee if you lose your keys and they are found. EXCEPTIONS: If KFI pays the reward for you because the finder left your KEYS with a third party , we understand you might feel obligated to tip that person, WE ONLY BILL YOU $40.00. Plus we pay up to $100.00 should your keys not be found in 48 hours.
[ top ]You may say "I have never lost my keys." That may be so...but think about it, most of us have never had a long term illness, had our car stolen, or had our house burn down, but we still carry health, automobile and fire insurance.
You may think "For the cost of the program and reward, I can pay for my new keys and towing." This is possible but not likely. What about the amount of time involved? You will have to wait for a tow truck and wait for your keys to be made at the car dealership. You could lose up to one day on the job or hours of your free time. What is that lost time worth to you. The cost of car key replacement could well exceed $400.00 PLUS AND THAT DOESN'T INCLUDE THE OTHER KEYS LOST AT THE SAME TIME.
Most of us put one house, office and other important keys on the keyring with our car keys. If your keys were reported lost to Key Finders™, you would get back all these keys too and not have to go to the expense of replacing them or changing locks. [ top ]
When you purchase an automobile, you can enroll in Key Finders™ through Key Finders™-authorized insurance companies, credit unions, or new / used car dealerships. [ top ]You will receive a set of key tags that are composed of durable Lexan™ material and are etched with a serial number that is linked to your account. The keytag is also etched with our 24 / 7 toll free number and the word "REWARD" to insure your keys are reported to us as soon as they are found. You will receive two key tags - one for you and one for your Spouse or partner. Attach them to your key rings but DO NOT REMOVE THE RING ATTACHED TO THE TAG, THIS ALLOWS YOUR TAG TO FALL TO THE OUTSIDE FOR COMPLETE VISABILITY WHEN FOUND. You will also receive two (2) free decals to protect your cell phone and hand held devices. You will also receive two ID cards that match the key tags. Put these in your wallet so the Key Finders™ contact information is always at your fingertips. The ID cards are similar to credit cards so they will last for years. If you find that your keys are missing call immediately.
[ top ]Typically, lost keys are found within minutes and you will be notified by Key Finders™ that your keys have been found before you even know they are lost! If you lose your keys, you will need to contact Key Finders™ immediately to report them lost. This will mark the beginning of your 48 hour waiting period before you will be able to receive $100.00 to assist in key replacement.
[ top ]When your keys are found, Key Finders™ will notify you with a phone call. We will attempt to reach you at the home, office, cell and alternate phone numbers you provided when you registered in the program. Remember, lost keys are typically not far away from the person who loses them. Think of that - without Key Finders™, YOUR KEYS COULD BE FOUND LESS THAN 100 FEET FROM WHERE YOU ARE AND YOU WOULD NEVER SEE THEM AGAIN.
[ top ]It is the mission of Key Finders™ to get lost keys returned to our members as quickly and safely as possible. The process of getting your lost keys returned to you may vary depending on the situation. It may be as easy as directing you to the finder's location or to the lost and found at the mall or the hostess's desk at the restaurant where your keys were found or where the finder has taken them for safekeeping until you are able to retrieve them. If you are no longer near where the keys were lost, for instance you were out of town and lost the keys at an airport, we will send a Federal Express envelope with a return envelope to the finder's location. You, the member, can elect to have your keys sent to your home, business, or to Key Finders™ and forwarded to you. We may even send a Key Finders™ representative to pick up your keys from the finder and return them to you personally! All this comes with your membership at no additional charge.
[ top ]If you are personally picking up the keys from the person who found them, you may pay the $50 reward at that time. (Remember, in our test findings many of the finders refused the reward.) Key Finders™ recommends cash only - do not write a check that contains your personal information. If you do not have the cash on hand, Key Finders™ will make arrangements to pay the reward and invoice you for the charges.
Sometimes the person that finds your keys is "just a nice guy" and does not want a reward, or may leave the keys at a front desk or customer service area for you to pick up. If this is the scenario, Key Finders™ recommends you at least offer the person holding the keys $5.00 for their trouble. In those situations where Key Finders™ pays the key finder a $50 reward for you, and you tip the person holding the keys, we will cover the tip and only bill you $40.00.
If your keys are not found within 48 hours after they are reported lost, Key Finders™ will pay up to $100 toward a new set of keys. Key Finders™ will provide the member with an authorized list of dealers for key replacement, which will save the member an additional 15% to 20%. (The replacement cost paid by Key Finders™ is based on key cost and from verifiable receipts.)

[ top ]Key Finders™ offers a great incentive program for our members. Tell your friends about us, and when they enroll, you will receive a $25 reward plus an additional year of coverage. You can in essence get a FREE initial membership by getting six friends or co-workers to become Key Finders™ members.
